Valentine's day is a day which brings mixed views. When I was younger I didn't think much of it, I would get a card from my mum and some chocolate and I was happy with that. But as I got older other people my age started getting into relationships and since I was forever alone I stopped acknowledging it. But in the last few years, I've realised Valentine's day can be celebrated by everyone no matter what your relationship status is. So if you're single why not spend the day treating yourself!

Five Valentines Ideas for if You're Single

1. Spend it with friends - If you don't want to spend the day or evening alone then spend it with your fellow single friends. You could all go out to dinner, have a night out or have a night in and order pizza.

2. Have a night to yourself -
Alternatively, if you want to spend some quality time with yourself why not have a pamper evening. Get some bath bombs, face masks, paint your nails, watch a film and most importantly eat plenty of food.

3. Learn something new -
If you've ever wanted to learn something new or take a class why not do it now!

4. Dinner for one -
If you're brave you could go out and have dinner for one or alternatively you could find a recipe on Pinterest and cook something at home.

5. Go for a walk -
Take yourself out for some fresh air. You could even explore somewhere you've never been to before.

This year I won't be spending the day alone, I'll be spending it with my boyfriend and probably working my way through the box of chocolates he's promised. If you're also spending the day with a loved one now is the time to give them a little extra love. There's plenty of things that you can do as a couple.

Five Valentines Ideas for Couples

1. Dinner date - This is a classic date idea. The person you love and a three-course meal is a pretty good combination.

2. Cook together - If you'd rather stay in why not try cooking something together. It's a good way to try out a new recipe and it's cheaper than going out. Plus you won't need to bother trying to get a table anywhere.

3. Go on a picnic - If it's nice weather why not go for a picnic. It could be in a local park or you could even have one on the beach if you live near the coast.

4. Something adventurous - If you fancy something a bit more adventurous than just going out for dinner you could go for a bike ride or for a walk along a cliff path or somewhere with hills to get a nice view.

5. Cinema - This is another classic date idea. There are loads of great films on at the minute. I recently watched The Greatest Showman and it was amazing.

I hope these ideas have given you a little bit of inspiration for how you can spend your day; whether you're in a relationship or not you can still have an amazing day.

Will you be doing any of these ideas?
